This morning I joined the 11K category of the first ever Mak.Run Invitational fun run. This was organised by the non-profit group Our Dreams Inc. and it was held at the UP Academic Oval.
Aside from the 11K category, there were also 4.4K and 6.6K categories. The 11K run consisted of a five loop run of the U.P Academic Oval which is 2.2KM long in one loop. It was a simple fun run. According to organisers, it was the first time they did this run and because of that runners experienced some inconveniences especially during the registration.
I can make this as a rant post about the fun run but since this is a run for a cause, I’ll spare them my criticism. Hopefully, this run serves as a learning experience for the group and if ever they will stage this run again next year, I hope it would be better organised. If you need a helping hand, you can count on the blogger of this site. 🙂
Anyway, I’ll just say something about my run since it’s worth talking about. I finished 5 loops with a running time of 1:03. My Garmin Forerunner 10 registered a 10.94 distance. That’s because there were some instances when I was forced to run in the inner lane to avoid other runners at slower pace. At the start of the race, I positioned myself in front since there were few brave runners who wanted to lead the pack. The result, I forced my self a bit earlier and suffered a side stitch at the first loop. So I had to slowed down a bit to ease out the pain. Luckily, I recovered and managed to run faster.
Overall, I enjoyed the run despite the minor glitches at the start of the race. I think this is the fastest 11K run I ever did. It’s a good race training in preparation for RUPM in October 5 and the Pinoy Fitness Challenge in November. (3010)
