And there goes the second leg of this year’s Run United. Yes, Run United 2 happened last Sunday amidst throngs of thousands of runners who joined the 10K, 21K and 32K categories. There were around 2749 runners who took the 32K route starting from KM0 at Luneta Park going all the way to Cavitex area.

For those of you who joined the Run United 2 last Sunday, the results are already out. You can check your race time from the Run Rio site.

Now for my usual race evaluation. What can I say? It’s your usual Runrio event. Well organised with ample hydration supply. The route was plain road with the exception of the short uphill climb courtesy of the two flyover along Roxas Blvd and the Bacoor interchange going to Cavitex. Overall, it was a good route to establish a new PR.

Some minor flaws happened in some areas where the throngs of 21K and 10K runners have met the slower 32K runners (including myself). One of the hydration station was too crowded. In some areas, the marshalls didn’t know where to direct the different runners, that is whether to stay on the left or right.

The timing of the race was too tight as well. Runrio announced that there will be a cut-off time. All runners will be picked up by vehicles by 7:30 am. But this didn’t happen though. This worked two ways for the participants. There were some who exceeded theirselves and tried really hard to meet the cut-off time. While others decided to go slow when their estimated that they won’t make it to the cut-off time.

Overall, it was a great Run Rio race. And I’m now looking forward to the Run United Philippine Marathon (RUPM) happening in October. But before that there’s still the Takbo.ph Runfest 2014 and of course, my favorite event – the Milo Marathon.

Now, it’s time to go back to training. (3735)
